Art. 237. Public forms will only be valid when checked against the original, in the presence of the authority.
Certified copy of document
Correct Interpretation: Public-form is the certified copy. There is a conflict between this device and the sole paragraph of article 232 , according to which “the photograph of the document, duly authenticated, will be given the same value as the original”. In order to resolve the conflict, Article 237 must be interpreted in the sense that, if the validity of a certified document is in doubt, the judge must demand the presentation of the original document, for verification purposes.
